Who We Are

Southwest Indiana Recovery and Empowerment (SWIRE) is a Recovery Community Organization (RCO) in Vanderburgh County, Indiana.

Founded by Nate Boyett, who has been in recovery for more than 20 years, SWIRE was established to provide support, resources, and advocacy for individuals in recovery from substance use disorders.

Our organization is built on the belief that recovery is possible for everyone, and that with the right support and resources, individuals can rebuild their lives and become valuable members of our community.

Our Mission

Together, we strive to transform lives and strengthen the Southwest Indiana community through hope, resilience, and empowerment.

Our Vision

We envision a thriving recovery community where every individual has access to the resources, support, and opportunities needed to sustain long-term wellness. SWIRE aims to transform Southwest Indiana into a region where recovery is recognized, respected, and celebrated, ensuring that individuals and families affected by substance use disorders can lead fulfilling lives free from stigma and discrimination.

Our Purpose

To embody the three core principles of a Recovery Community Organization (RCO):

  • Recovery Vision: Promoting long-term recovery from substance use disorders by enhancing the availability and quality of recovery support services within our community.
  • Authenticity of Voice: Ensuring that individuals with lived recovery experiences are central to our leadership, decision-making, and service delivery, thereby reflecting the true needs and aspirations of the recovery community.
  • Accountability to the Recovery Community: Maintaining transparency and responsiveness in all operations, programs, and initiatives, with direct input and feedback from the recovery community guiding our actions.
